This week the prestigious car magazine WhatCar announced it’s annual awards and car company Mazda have driven away from the competition by winning two of the major prizes.
The Mazda6 model has won the Family Car Of The Year with its 2.2D 5 door hatchback and also the award for Estate Car Of The Year with a variance of the same model.
The Mazda6 family car award will raise the profile of the model with company car buyers who will have noted its impressive fuel consumption, low carbon emissions and the most competitive resale prices in its class, in addition to which, at its current price, has a £4000 advantage over last year’s winner – the Ford Mondeo.
The estate car award was even more emphatic. A big clincher for Mazda is their spring loaded rear seat system which operates at the tug of a catch. When the catch is operated the rear seat base automatically lowers itself as the backrest comes down on top to provide a completely flat surface.
Both these awards should result in increased sales to Mazda to the detriment of Ford who are seriously hampered by high prices across their full range of cars.
