A Meaningless Green Test

Author: terrynova

Once again we have the results of another, quite meaningless, so called Green Challenge to discover which car is the so-called most fuel efficient.
The recent Global Green Challenge in Australia is the latest case in mind. This was run from North to South covering 1900 miles of some of hottest and most arid conditions on the planet.
To obtain the best consumption figures competitors switched OFF their air conditioning so as to save fuel on the journey. The winner turned out to be the Suzuki Alto which managed an overall 72mpg in a 1.0 litre petrol engine
Please, will someone tell me what the above test proves?
You buy a car, if you require air-con you check it’s fitted to the car when you buy it – then you use it as conditions require, especially when your journey takes 7 days in temperatures of up to 43 degrees.
If the people conducting these tests wish to prove their green credentials they would do better to stay at home and not add to the carbon gas emissions.
