Festival of Transport event Free admission and Free parking This is a new annual 3 day event at Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre in association with Kent Air Ambulance
Cars making special guest appearances include the original Chitty Chitty Bang Bang visiting the centre on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th September. An original Back to the Future Delorean and Del Boy's Regal Reliant Van will be on display on the Saturday and Sunday. Classic Car Show The finale to the event will be a classic motor show on the Sunday. Up to 100 classic cars will be on display outside in Green car park, alongside the monthly Farmers' market. The Delorean and Trotters Reliant Regal van are being hired from Cars of the Stars museum in Keswick, in the Lake District. These are all original cars and not replicas. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang appears at this event courtesy of Pierre Picton who has owned this vehicle since 1972 and also appeared as a double for Dick Van Dyke in the film. This is the classic film car and was the only original road-going vehicle built. The car's registration number is GEN 11 which was the closest to 'Genie' that the UK car registration system would permit at the time. 9am to 7pm Friday and Saturday and 10am to 4pm on SundayStar
