Final approval is awaited today on a new points scoring system for Formula1 races for the 2010 season.
With the proposed 25 points for the winner, 20 points for 2nd., 15 points for 3rd., then 10, 8, 6, 5, 3, 2, 1, respectively down to tenth, F1 teams aiming for a safe finish just will not get near the top of the table.
With 19 races in 2010 the emphasis will be on engineering back up to produce the best balanced car consistently for all races.
With 13 teams involved next year, up from 10, the track is going to be rather crowded making overtaking a larger number of cars from a poor grid starting position even more time consuming, also a further hazard for anyone wishing to do a lot of overtaking is fuel usage, next season there are no pit stops for refuelling, practice days might be even more entertaining next year.
