Longbridge Comes Back To Life

China’s Shanghai Automotive (SAIC) are preparing to restart production at Longbridge with their MG6 saloon.
This MG6 model based on a combination of their Roewe550 and a Rover75, which will be slightly larger than a Skoda Octavia, will be in showrooms on sale in October.
The first MG6’s available will all have petrol engines but diesel models are promised within 12 months as are a Golf  sized model and another as yet unknown model, all of which are promised to debut at the Beijing Motor Show in April.
With 2010 forecast to be a difficult year for all car makers let us hope that Longbridge, or to give it it’s new name the MG Motor Birmingham, will help to lift some of the economic gloom.
