When Does £2000 become £1000? When it`s a Labour Promise

Motorists in the UK have been asking for months for the government to introduce a system whereby any car which is over 10 years old and is still roadworthy can be scrapped and the owner reimbursed with £2000 to buy a new car.

This scheme is supposed to be a two way deal to encourage drivers to take their 10 year old plus non-environmental friendly car off the road and with the money buy a new or nearly new vehicle which should assist in keeping the ailing UK car industry alive.
